Brandon Zanier, the lead guide and owner of Apex Sport Fishing, has been passionate about fishing since childhood. Growing up in Colorado, he spent his early years on family trips to Blue Mesa and Flaming Gorge, targeting Kokanee Salmon and Mackinaw. His grandfather, a bar owner and chef, would transform their catches into delicious meals, further deepening Brandon's love for the sport.In 2007, Brandon's family relocated to Idaho, where they built a home near Cascade Reservoir. Through hard work, he acquired his first fishing boat—a modest 12-foot Sun Dolphin with a 15hp Evinrude—which became his gateway to endless summer days catching Perch, Bass, and Sunfish. This experience honed his skills in operating small boats on large waters, a craft he has perfected over the years.Returning to Colorado for college, Brandon attended Fort Lewis College, balancing academics and football with frequent fishing trips to Navajo Reservoir. There, he mastered techniques for catching Northern Pike, Bass, Crappie, Salmon, and Trout. After earning a degree in business economics, he ventured into property management but soon realized his true calling was in fishing. This led him to collaborate with Apex Sport Fishing, transitioning into a full-time guiding career.Today, Brandon operates a 2002 Lund Fisherman, accommodating up to four clients, and spends his days from dawn to dusk—and often through the night—pursuing the next trophy catch. His dedication to sharing his passion and extensive fishing knowledge with clients is evident in every trip, making each adventure with Apex Sport Fishing both educational and unforgettable.
