The Kokanee Salmon bite on Blue Mesa has been dynamite all month long! Vertical jigging in Cebolla Basin has been the most effective program Finding active fish is the key to success; the best salmon schools have been found 60-100ft deep in 100-150ft of water. It is essential to have the boat positioned directly over the school. Once located jigging spoons have been doing the most damage, and the hot colors seem to change daily so experiment. Make sure your jigs are reaching the appropriate depths; a couple feet can mean the difference between a cooler full of fish and none. We are seeing limits of salmon basically every trip (5 fish per person). The four year olds have ranged anywhere from 15 to 19 inches. We are also catching the occasional lake trout and brown trout mixed in with the salmon. This bite will not last much longer so get out and enjoy! Please remember the daily bag limit is 5 fish per person, and only 10 in possession. Tight lines!
