Twin Lakes Reservoir

The week of: August 27th, 2018

Weather Conditions: Cold nights and mornings, still warming up in the afternoons. Occasional storms in the afternoons
Water Conditions: Temps in the low to mid 60s, dropping slowly, slightly low level, and clear visibility

Twin Lakes has been fishing fair. It is one of the few lakes in the state that fishes well for lake trout in the midsummer. With the water temps at their max most of the fish are found in the main basin 60-90ft deep. However, some fish are using shallower areas to hunt early and late in the day. Trolling with downriggers has been most consistent followed by snap weights and leadcore. Vertical jigging has been decent the key is to keep moving spots till you find active fish. Lower Twin has been most consistent but Upper Twin is certainly worth exploring. As the days roll by and the temps cool off the Lakers will start to move onto spawning reefs. Please remember all lake trout between 22-34in must be released immediately. And all Lake Trout over 34in SHOULD be released immediately. Tight lines!
