Ruedi Reservoir Fishing Report

The week of: July 30th, 2018

Weather conditions: Cooler mornings, hot afternoons, mainly sunny with periodic thunderstorms.
Water conditions: Stable water level, temperatures in the high 60s

Ruedi Reservoir is in full summer mode now and the fish have made it to their summer locations. Lake trout can be found near the bottom in 70 to 120ft of water usually associating to points, humps, or flats.  There are always some fish suspended chasing bait and they can be caught trolling with downriggers, lead core, or snap weights. But most fish have come from vertical jigging near the bottom. We have to work for each bite but typically we net five to ten fish with a few bigger fish mixed in. Rainbow, Cutthroat, and Brown Trout action has picked up and trolling tiny crank baits in 20 to 40ft of water has been most productive. Shore anglers are having success with bait and spoons. There are wild fires in the area and the weather can change in an instant so please be careful. As always please release all Lake Trout 22inces and bigger. Tight lines!
